Christian Zacharias will spend the next few weeks on road on the Iberian Peninsula, among that in his capacity as principal guest conductor with two orchestras based there.
First, however, he travels to Madrid this week to present a special concert with pieces by Beethoven and Anton Reicha at the Auditorio Nacional de Música together with the Azahar Ensemble, a Spanish wind quintet.
Then it’s off to Andalusia to present Bruckner’s Quintet in F major and Haydn’s Requiem in C minor on two evenings with the Orquesta Ciuda de Granada.
Finally, he will travel to Portugal to the Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música, with whom Christian Zacharias will play a colourful programme of Otto Nicolai, Robert Schumann, Maurice Ravel and Johann Strauss II.
